If for no other reason than historical and archival purposes, backups are maintained by most organizations. Not necessarily for the purpose of some future law suit, but mainly to preserve a record of the sequence of events of the operations of the organization.

Not to be overly vindictive, but when they go to prison, leak word to the general prison population that these two are child molesters. Their stay behind bars, no matter how short, will seem like a lifetime in hell.

Let's assume for the moment that Windows 8 is as good as this article makes it out to be. One of the biggest problems that Microsoft has (and has had historically) is that with every new iteration of its OS (as well as its applications as well, for that matter) it moves everything around.

As I read it, the restaurant was "unattended", meaning that it was open though not necessarily open for business. That being the case, unless they picked a lock or broke a window to get in, it's hardly breaking and entering.
